Aras Steel Industrial Group is the outcome of decades of commercial and engineering experience of its founders in the Steel industry. Nowadays Aras Steel is consisted from 5 subsidiaries participating both in commercial and manufacturing activities of steel industry, and is one of the most complete holdings in this field.

Considering this holding’s years of experience in technical engineering and commercial activities in Eurasian countries, aligned with the policy of Armenian government about prohibition of scrap export at the end of 2020, as well as the policy about added value and job creation, Aras Steel stakeholders decided to invest in this country.  

The practical activity for this purpose was carried out from January 2021 with the presence of the technical engineering and market development teams of Aras Steel Company to check the investment conditions. Finally, in the first phase, the capitalists of this company, by purchasing 100% of the shares of the stagnant factory of Karajulman Gurjaran in Lernagog region of Armavir province, were able to install and launch this complex in just 10 months by building a 25,000-ton smelting plant and producing standard steel billets. After 35 years of stagnation, this factory restarted operating as Karakert Steel Company from January 2022 and made a significant contribution to the employment and economic development of the region by creating employment for 170 people.

From 2024, Karakert Steel Company has started investing for the second phase of this project, the Karakert Steel rolling mill, with a production capacity of 120,000 tons per year, and according to the project schedule, it is planned to put the second phase into operation in January 2025. With the operation of the second phase, this company will be able to export its products to Eurasian countries in addition to supplying more than 50% of the domestic needs of the Armenian market.
